Antonin Dvořák: Cello Concerto / Richard Strauss: Also sprach Zarathustra

Richard Strauss based his massive orchestral poem on the book by Friedrich Nietzsche, and it has since been used to boost the ego at Elvis concerts and to symbolise enlightenment in the Stanley Kubrick film 2001: A Space Odyssey. Antonin Dvořák composed his cello concerto around the same time, and it has since earned a place among the most popular pieces of classical music in the world. Gautier Capucon’s interpretation has been described as hypnotic.
