LITTLE OVERTURE

The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra has invited music schools in Helsinki to perform in the main foyer of the Helsinki Music Centre before its concerts.

The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra has invited music schools in Helsinki to perform in the main foyer of the Helsinki Music Centre before its concerts. The little overtures offer students the chance to perform together outside their own schools and to listen to the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra’s concert after their own performance. Concert audiences have been very appreciative of the young musicians’ performances, which have taken place at the Helsinki Music Centre since spring 2012.

The Little Overture concerts present different kinds of performances, from soloists to instrumental ensembles. The instruments or pieces played by the students are connected to the evening’s concert programme. The Little Overture concerts can be heard in the main foyer of the Helsinki Music Centre on the evenings marked in the concert calendar between 6:15pm and 6:45pm. The Little Overture concerts are free of charge.
