In 1988, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra embarked on its second tour to Japan, only six years after its previous, longer tour. It gave concerts in Tokyo, Matsumoto and several other cities. One of the conductors on the tour was Paavo Berglund, of works that included Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, Finlandia and Symphony No. 2.
