Andrey Boreyko & Ingrid Fliter
Introduction
Art imitates nature more tangibly then ever as the orchestra accompanies Arctic birds, swans, cranes and horned larks in all its tone colours. Cantus Arcticus brought Einojuhani Rautavaara to the awareness of the international music world, just as the brilliant Piano Concerto No. 2 did for Frédéric Chopin 150 years earlier. The piece is as if made for pianist Ingrid Fliter, who became the first female recipient of the Gilmore Artist Award in 2006.
