Georges Bizet: Symphony in C
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Horn Concerto No. 1 & 4
Maurice Ravel: Mother Goose & Pavane for a Dead Princess
Bizet and Mozart were both brilliant composers who died young at the peak of their careers. Mozart’s concertos for French horn are a mainstay of the repertoire for this instrument. Bizet, composer of the opera Carmen, also proved to be one of history’s greatest child geniuses by composing a complete symphony at the age of just 17. The evening’s soloist is Markus Maskuniitty, who has established a great reputation internationally but seldom performs in Finland.
