Accessibility Statement

This Accessibility Statement applies to the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra website. The website address is https://helsinginkaupunginorkesteri.fi

Compliance with legal requirements

This website was published before 23 September 2018. The website will meet the accessibility requirements required by law after a transition period ending on 23 September 2020.

Policy of the City of Helsinki

The City of Helsinki strives to offer digital services that comply with Level AA requirements or better in accordance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) insofar as reasonably possible.

Accessibility compliance status

This website complies with WCAG 2.1 AA critical accessibility requirements with the following identified deficiencies.

Non-accessible content

The content below does not yet meet all legal accessibility requirements.

Identified deficiencies

According to the Accessibility Report of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, critical or significant deficiencies were identified on the website and were corrected during 2019. Deficiencies identified as minor will be addressed with the launch of the Drupal 8 platform in autumn 2020. These minor deficiencies are listed below. Deficiencies that have already been corrected can be found in the Accessibility Report.

1. Unclear link texts

The website has several link texts that do not meet WCAG requirements. As independent elements, link texts should state their purpose so that it can be understood without the visual context of the link. For example, the website has links to “Read More” or “Purchase Tickets”. Understanding these links requires understanding their context.

2. Jump links in English
There is a jump link at the top of the web page in accordance with accessibility requirements that allows screen reader users to skip the repetitive navigation section at the top of the pages. However, the link is named "Skip to content" in English. If the user does not speak English well enough, the meaning of the link may not be understood.

3. Descriptions of elements in English
The form fields are named in accordance with the WCAG standard for screen reader users, but the fields are described in English. As a result, screen reader users without a visual interface may find it difficult to understand the purpose of the fields, especially when the function is not accompanied by instructions and the user is assumed to understand how to use the function.

Correction of deficiencies

The deficiencies concerning link texts, jump links and descriptions of elements will be corrected as soon as possible once the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra website is transferred to the Drupal 8 platform in autumn 2020.

Access to information in accessible format

Content that cannot be accessed due to the above-mentioned deficiencies may be requested from the website administrator.
