Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra on tour in Central Europe

The orchestra will be travelling to Central Europe together with chief conductor Susanna Mälkki, and the soloist for the tour is violinist Pekka Kuusisto.

The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing next week in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Poland. The orchestra will be travelling to Central Europe together with chief conductor Susanna Mälkki, and the soloist for the tour is violinist Pekka Kuusisto. The programme at the start of the tour features Jean Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2, Lotta Wennäkoski’s Flounce and Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto.

In Poland, Sibelius’s Second will be replaced by Beethoven’s Fifth, as the concerts in Katowice and Warsaw will be part of the annual Beethoven Festival programme. Austria’s public broadcaster ORF will be recording the concert in Vienna, while the concert in Warsaw will be broadcast live on Poland’s Radio 2.
