HKO Screen – online concerts in January

Chief conductor Susanna Mälkki opens the spring season with a concert on January 15th 2021

A warm thank you for the autumn season of 2020 and Happy New Year 2021! The exceptional times will continue still in the spring season and restrictions that affect public events have been continued until the 31st of January 2021. Even though public concerts are not possible in January 2021, the Orchestra will give concerts from the Concert Hall at the Music Centre in Helsinki, as HKO Screen – online concerts.

Steven Reich: Music for ensemble and orchestra (Finnish premiere)
Betsy Jolas: Onze Lieder (Finnish premiere)
Jean Sibelius: Suite from King Christian II

Håkan Hardenberger presents the Finnish premiere of Betsy Jolas’ refined piece in which the trumpet sings, plays and creates musical imagery with light, jazzy and emotional tones. The evening’s programme also features Steve Reich’s latest orchestral work, which Susanna Mälkki premiered in Los Angeles.  

Completed a year before his First Symphony, Sibelius’s Suite from King Christian II made Sibelius internationally known as an orchestral composer and paved the way for his symphonic career.

Please note: As soon as we’re able to organize public concerts again, concert tickets go on sale though the ticket office at the Helsinki Music Center and Ticketmaster (+35860010800, 1,98 e/min + LNC), we will release the tickets sales start date later. For the spring season there are only single-use tickets available. Season ticket seats from the spring of 2020 will remain as booked and will be automatically transferred as bookings for the autumn season of 2021.

Purchased concert tickets for concert 25-26/11/2020, 8/12/2020 and 18/12/2020 will be repaid. To receive repayment you must fill in and send the form for repayments by January 31st 2021. Instructions on how to apply for repayment.
