Impromptu - chamber music live broadcast

Live broadcast of chamber music concert by HPO musicians on Friday 20 March

Musicians from the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra will perform chamber music without a live audience in the Concert Hall of the Helsinki Music Centre on Friday 20 March. The concert begins at 7pm and can be listened to live on Yle Radio 1 and watched live on Yle Areena and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra’s HKO Screen mobile app.

Impromptu

The Impromptu chamber music by musicians from the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra is named after the opening piece, Jean Sibelius’s Impromptu Op. 5, No. 5 for string orchestra.  Kaija Saariaho’s duo Aure was composed for the 95th birthday of French composer Henri Dutilleux, and the programme is complemented by Anton Bruckner’s romantic Adagio from String Quintet in F major. The evening culminates brightly with Sibelius’s Andante festivo.

The online broadcast begins already at 6:30pm with the video installation Embarkation by visual artist Sini Pelkki. The Visual Overture will also be presented on the media wall at the Helsinki Music Centre.
