The popular Encounters Club is an arena for creative ideas and surprising encounters with performances by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra’s musicians and friends.
Performing in a cello ensemble is important for cellists, especially when they get to play the best music in the world with their colleagues. At the Encounters Club, the HPO’s cellos join forces with their former colleague, Senja Rummukainen. Their concert will premiere the cello octet “An Angel's Prayer” composed by HPO cellist Jaani Helander and dedicated to Senja Rummukainen and the HPO cellos. In this piece, the main melody indeed floats in the heavens like the prayer of an angel. The orchestra’s cello section also gets to show off its refined tone, which will reverberate in the airy Main Foyer at the Musiikkitalo concert hall. The premiere of this piece, composed especially for this club and for these performers, must be experienced in person!
Free admission – welcome! The programme begins at 9 p.m. after the evening’s concert, and the café is open until 10:30 p.m.
