Auditions for vacant positions in Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra

CELLO PLAYER (TUTTI, 2 PERMANENT VACANCIES)

We have two positions open in our wonderful cello section: one vacant already, the other starting January 2027.

The auditions will be held 

  • Monday 27 at 10:00 and
  • Tuesday 28 April 2026 at 15:00

at Music Centre / Musiikkitalo, Mannerheimintie 13 A, 00100 Helsinki, Finland.

Audition repertoire: 

  • Tbc
  • Accompaniment provided, but candidate can bring own.

Requirements:

 Repertoire of the preliminary video round:

  • Brahms: Symphony No. 3, III movement
  • Any solo piece of your choice

Both pieces must be performed consecutively in one continuous take. You can choose yourself the order of the pieces, one or two files

AUDITION FOR THE POSITION OF I AND II VIOLINS, SUBSTITUTES

The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra invites violinists to an audition for substitute positions. The audition seeks substitutes for both the first and second violin sections.

  • Wednesday 25.2.2026, beginning at 10:00
  • Helsinki Music Center, Mannerheimintie 13 A, 00100 Helsinki

AUDITION REPERTOIRE:

  • Beethoven: Symphony nro 3 "Eroica", 1st movement until repetition (1st violin part)
  • Work of own choice, ca. 5 minutes passage. No accompaniment
