Esittely

The popular Encounters Club is an arena for creative ideas and surprising encounters with performances by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra’s musicians and friends.

This Encounters Club was dreamed up by HPO violist Mariette Reefman, after meeting musicians Marcel, Marjana and Teuvo through various corners of the baroque and early music scene. They connected both through their mutual love of early music, and through shared values – including the belief that while tradition is important, so is exploration and transformation. They also have an affinity for the folk and traditional music from their own respective countries, and so was born the idea for this project: to perform the early music which brought them together in the first place, as well as learn and share traditional music from their own motherlands. The program will include songs by composers such as Monteverdi, D'India and Praetorius, as well as traditional music from Slovenia, Catalonia, the Netherlands and Finland.

Free admission – welcome! The programme begins at 9pm after the evening’s concert, and the café is open until 10:30pm.
