Introduction

In this chamber music programme by Tabea Zimmermann, her viola accompanies the cries of a Sicilian street vendor together with a percussionist, delivers a monologue, exchanges impressionistic ideas with a flute and harp, and finally joins her own tribe in Benjamin Dale’s fine sextet for violas composed in 1911.

Zimmermann, who began playing the viola at the age of three, considers it a great gift that her path to music went through chamber music. “Together with my viola I have learned to place each note in relation to other notes and people.”
