Basile Ausländer
Basile Ausländer is a Swiss cellist renowned for his versatility and musicianship. Born in Lausanne in 1996, Basile began playing the cello at a young age and went on to earn his Master Soloist’s degree with the highest mark from the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne under François Salque in 2017. He then pursued his studies further and joined the cello class of Marko Ylönen at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, successfully graduating in 2021.
Basile has won several first prizes in Swiss national competitions and has participated in numerous international competitions. He is equally skilled in playing in orchestras, chamber music groups, contemporary music and crossover ensembles, and has performed as a soloist since age 14. Basile has had the privilege of playing with many accomplished musicians throughout his career and has been invited to play with prestigious orchestras and ensembles, including the Chamber Orchestra of Lausanne, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the MusicAeterna Orchestra, and the CameratAmoyal ensemble.
Since January 2022, Basile has been a permanent member of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, where he contributes his skills as a valued member of the cello section. In January 2023, he served as the 1st principal cellist of the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire in Nantes until August 2023, and after a successful audition in October, Basile will soon be the new 2nd cello solo of the renowned Chamber Orchestra of Lausanne. Basile is known for his impressive versatility, displaying his skills in various genres including jazz and crossover ensembles.
