Bio

I am from Tampere.

I started playing the trombone when I was 9 years old.

When I was younger, I was more inclined towards jazz and other rhythm music. At that time, I played in several bands and also performed in various musicals at Tampere Theatre.

However, playing in a symphony orchestra began to interest me, and after moving to Helsinki to study at the Sibelius Academy, I very quickly found gigs with local orchestras. I was then chosen to be a substitute with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra for the 1995–1996 season.

After that, I became a permanent member of the Finnish National Opera Orchestra, but when a position opened up at the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra in 2003, I decided to apply and got the job. The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra has always had a great team spirit, and the level of the orchestra is high. I have been able to enjoy great concerts in Finland and on many foreign tours.

Still, more rhythmic music never left me and has been with me throughout my career. I compose, record and produce music at my own studio in Kallio, Helsinki. I work extensively in different genres, from reggae and jazz to cinematic soundscapes. I have worked on songs in collaboration with many well-known artists, such as Emilia Sisco, Paleface and Kauko Röyhkä, and my music has been heard in commercials, on YouTube videos and in the Finnish film “Uphill in Helsinki” (Hyväveli, 2022).
