Bio
Oboist Nils Rõõmussaar (b. 1974) is Co-principal Oboe of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. Rõõmussaar studied at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Norwegian Academy of Music. Before his position in the HPO (2015–), Rõõmussaar was Principal Oboe of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (2001–2014). He has also performed with the NDR Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and taught oboe at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. He likes to play Mahler and Shostakovich and favourite place in Helsinki is Kallio.
