Sibelius Violin Competition & tour with Christel Lee

In December 2015, the HPO under its Chief Conductor John Storgårds gave a concert in Birmingham and Dublin with the winner of the International Sibelius Violin Concerto just ended, Christel Lee. The programme consisted of music by Sibelius. The concert began with the tone poem En Saga, after which Christel Lee performed the Violin Concerto. After the interval the audience heard the Karelia Suite and the Seventh Symphony. The encore was also by Sibelius: the Scene with Cranes from the incidental music Death. The Birmingham concert was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.
