Visual Overture and Encounters Club

In autumn 2018, the HPO launched two new series designed to enrich its concert evenings: a Visual Overture and an Encounters Club.

The Visual Overture series features a new video installation each month on the media wall – the biggest in the Nordic countries – of the Musiikkitalo. Screened just before the start of each concert, the video is jointly produced by the HPO, AV-arkki (the Distribution Centre for Finnish Media Art) and the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma.

Free and open to all, the Encounters Club takes place after the concert in the main foyer of the Helsinki Music Centre on the first Friday each month. The club is an arena for showcasing unexpected creative ideas and encounters between various genres of the arts and features performances by HPO musicians and friends.
