Inflection points are crossed at the Encounters Club, when musicians with jazz and classical backgrounds come together to make music. At the same time, we celebrate the release of a new album.
Musical canons, minimalism and contrasts created by strong opposites all feature in composer Jussi Lampela's new, previously unreleased pieces. The evening's music is a peaceful mix of electronic and acoustic soundscapes in the style of Max Richter, Olafur Arnalds and Ludovico Einaudi.
The driving forces behind the Jussi Lampela Ensemble are trumpeter Jukka Eskola and drummer Teppo Mäkynen, who together with Lampela's electronics form a musical counterpoint to the classical sound of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra's string quartet.
The popular Encounters Club is an arena for creative ideas and surprising encounters with performances by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra’s musicians and friends.
Free admission – welcome! The programme begins at 9pm after the evening’s concert, and the café is open until 9:45pm.
