History’s composing women have often remained invisible due to society’s traditional gender roles. Clara Schumann's piano trio from 1846, which is dedicated to her husband Robert Schumann, will now be performed at the evening Encounters Club.
During the composition of the work, Robert Schumann was already seriously ill in Dresden, and Clara stopped composing completely after the death of her husband. During the evening we will also hear two works for violin and piano. Both Amy Beach from the USA and Cecile Chaminade from France were, like Clara Schumann, not only composers but also excellent pianists.

The Encounters Club is open to all and free of charge, and it takes place on Fridays around once a month in the main foyer of the Helsinki Music Centre.
Free admission – welcome! The programme begins at 9pm after the evening’s concert, and the café is open until 10:30pm.
