Presentation

The orchestra exudes collegial encouragement whenever the soloist comes from its own ranks. Conductor Ariane Matiakh makes a long-awaited return to Helsinki.

First Principal Cellist Tuomas Ylinen moves from the conductor’s right to the left as he becomes the soloist for Antonín Dvořák’s beloved Cello Concerto.

Sergei Rachmaninov was the subject of criticism because he remained stylistically faithful to 19th-century music yet lived in the 20th century. Despite everything, he had also become a man of the new century, enthusiastic about cars, motorboats and airplanes. In his Symphonic Dances, Rachmaninov, who emigrated to America, allowed a breath of that modern luxury to combine with rich romanticism.

Season tickets are on sale from 27 October to 24 November 2026.

Single tickets for concerts go on sale on 2 December 2026.
