Letter to the creative me
I create so that I can exist. I look at the world, sensing its signals and feeling them reflected in me. When I express the thoughts that emerge in me, I can see how I look at the world. This makes me think about my observations and about the person contemplating the world in my body and how that person interacts with the universe. My observations also make me think what the world looks like through the eyes of other people. The ability to create is proof of a world shared by individuals, of society and of the equality of diversity. Creativity forces me into a dialogue with myself. This makes me grow as a person, to attain my true capabilities. The world is reflected in me and prompts thoughts in me, therefore I exist. That is the fulfilment of life.
We all have the power of expression. Creative power can be harnessed anywhere in our lives. Expressing ourselves through music, words, images or movement gives us power. In the creative process, we make decisions that help define ourselves: what will I include? what will I discard? As we discard the unnecessary things in our lives, we shape our lives in our own image. We are seen and heard by the outside world. A virtuous circle emerges: when we listen to ourselves, we find it easier to listen to others. When we listen to ourselves and others, history and the world around us come to life, as we find ourselves part of it all.
Remember! Always start, even if you do not manage to finish. Always do, even if what you do will not be perfect. Do lots of things, do things often. Be generous about mistakes. Do not exclude any skills: you may be good at something, but you may also be good at something completely different. Try again, boldly. Ask for help. Even a small thing completed is more than nothing. Never stop listening to yourself.
