Cinema in Concert: Triangle of Hope

Director Juho Kuosmanen's compassionate silent films tinged with a warm sense of humour will be screened to the accompaniment of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra at our Epiphany cinema concert at Musiikkitalo. The music composed by the Ykspihlaja Kino Orchestra has been arranged for the symphony orchestra by Mateusz Gwizdałła, who also conducts the concert. The sound effects for the films in the concert will be created by foley artist Heikki Kossi.

Scrap-Mattila and The Beautiful Woman (2012) is a silent film about a sorrowful man who’s searching for a buyer for his goods and acceptance for his existence. In The Moonshiners (2017), two siblings inherit all the essentials for a good life: moonshine equipment and a pig. The trilogy is completed by A Planet Far Away (2023), a silent film about Marlanda and her little brother Maximilian. The film tells a story about the world ending and the peculiar ways of trying to cope with it.

The cinema concert will start with an artist meeting with director Juho Kuosmanen and guitarist Miika Snåre of the Ykspihlaja Kino Orchestra.

The concert lasts approximately 1 h 15 min, no intermission.

Tickets: €6.50–49.50 online from www.helsinginkaupunginorkesteri.fi and the Music Centre box office.  Tickets go on sale 19 September 2024 at 13:00.
