Central European tour – 100 years from the Paris tour
In 2000, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra went on a European tour. A hundred years had passed since its first foreign tour, to the Paris World Fair. This one also took in Vienna, Amsterdam, Barcelona and Madrid.
Once again the HPO took Sibelius abroad. Among the works on the programme were his Symphony No. 2 and Kullervo, and the conductor was Leif Segerstam.
