Season ticket terms will be more flexible in spring

Our season ticket customers have long wished for the possibility of exchanging one concert for another if they have not been able to attend a concert in their own concert series. In spring 2026, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra will introduce on a trial basis the possibility of exchanging one concert from their season ticket for a concert in another concert series. During the trial, the exchange must be made no later than 72 hours, or three days, before the concert to which they wish to exchange or from which they wish to exchange – depending on which comes first.

A new ticket for the replacement concert will be sent by e-mail within two business days of submitting the exchange form, and at the same time the exchanged concert ticket will cease to be valid. Other concert tickets included in the season ticket will be unaffected. The exchange form will open when single ticket sales begin on 2 December 2025. Exchanges can only be made using the online exchange request form.

Season ticket holders of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra's four concert series are true friends of our concerts, and we want to serve them as well as possible. Season ticket holders have concert evenings reserved in their own regular seat, but there are times when they are unable to attend a concert. Until now, it has only been possible to donate an unused season ticket seat to a music student or someone within their immediate circle.

Which concerts can I exchange for?

A concert ticket can be exchanged only for a concert in another concert series, so if you have a season ticket for Series II, you can request to exchange for a concert in Series I, III or IV.

Concerts that are not included in any of these concert series (30 January, 13 March at 12noon, 10 April and 1 May at 12noon and 2pm) are excluded from the right to exchange. On the exchange form, you will be asked to provide at least two concert alternatives, for example if your first preference is sold out.

What does it cost to exchange concerts?

Exchanging concerts is free of charge.

How many times can I exchange concerts in spring 2026?

You can exchange concerts only once per season ticket. Once you have exchanged a concert, you cannot exchange it again. If you have more than one season ticket, you can exchange concerts once per season ticket. If you have more than one season ticket, you can exchange the same number as concerts as you have season tickets: either all or just one. You do not have to exchange all of them at once.

I know already now that I will not be able to attend one of my season ticket concerts. Can I request an exchange now but decide which concert I want to attend later?

No. The exchange request form can only be submitted once, so you must know which concert you would like to exchange for when you fill in the form.

Can I exchange my season ticket seat for another seat within the same concert series?

No. The possibility to exchange seats is available only to season ticket holders who, for one reason or another, are unable to attend a concert in their own concert series. However, season ticket seats can be exchanged when sales begin by purchasing a new season ticket from the available seats. Unclaimed seats will be released for single ticket sales after season ticket sales have ended.

Can I still donate my unused ticket to a music student?

Yes, you can donate your seat to a music student by using the same exchange request form. If you have already used your right to exchange, you can still donate your seat to a music student or friend the next time you are unable to attend.

Can I exchange concerts by phone or e-mail?

No. We only accept exchange requests via the exchange request form. If you are unable to fill in the form online, you can fill out a printed version of the form at the Musiikkitalo box office. The box office is open on weekdays from 1pm to 6pm.

How will I receive the replacement ticket? 

The new ticket will be sent to you by e-mail within two weekdays of submitting the form.

Will I be able to sit in my regular seat at the new concert?

Most likely not, as many of the seats have already been reserved for other ticket buyers as the season progresses. We will try to move you as close to your usual seat as possible, but if there are very few seats available at the concert you want, this may not be possible. The exchange request form also asks about your seating preferences, so please let us know if you do not want to sit in the balcony, for example.

Can I exchange for a seat in a more expensive price category?

No. During the trial period, ticket exchanges can only be made within the same price category. If there are no more tickets left in that price category, an exchange will be made to a seat in a lower price category. Instead of exchanging for another concert, is it possible to get my money back or exchange for a concert in autumn 2026, for example?

Once paid for, season tickets cannot be refunded, either in full or in part. However, your season ticket seat can be exchanged from one concert in the spring 2026 season to another. If the exchange is made to a seat in a lower price category, the price difference will not be refunded. Tickets cannot be exchanged for a concert in the autumn 2026 season either.

When can tickets be exchanged at the latest?

The exchange must be made no later than 72 hours, or three days, before the concert to which you wish to exchange or from which you wish to exchange – depending on which comes first.

Example: 

A Series I season ticket holder is unable to attend the first concert of the series on Wednesday 4 February 2026 and would like to exchange for the concert on Thursday 5 February 2026 In this case, the exchange must be made 72 hours before the concert starting on Wednesday 4 February, i.e. no later than Sunday 1 February at 7pm.

If, on the other hand, the new concert is on Friday 16 January 2026 at 7pm, the exchange request form must be submitted no later than Tuesday 13 January 2025 at 7pm.

If I fall ill on the day of the concert, is it still possible to exchange for another concert?

No. During the trial period, exchanges must be requested no later than 72 hours before the concert, otherwise we are unable to process the request.

If I have purchased a single ticket to a concert, can I exchange it using the same form? 

No. The right to exchange applies only to season ticket holders. Single tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.
